Place: Private home in Ewing, NJ (The address and directions will be sent to registered participants.)
Material cost: $3 per participant (to cover the cost of rice, nori/seaweed, avocado, and some other ingredients)
Workshop size: 1 to 3 participants
Description: Participants will learn how to make avocado roll and inari sushi as shown on the above photo of our first session. Depending on the participants' interest, we could make other types of sushi as well. If the participants want to try other ingredients (e.g., smoked salmon), they will need to either ask the facilitator to get them in advance (possibly with additional cost) or bring the desired ingredients with them. All the materials to make avocado roll and inari sushi will be provided. Some sushi making tools will also be made available during the session. We will provide the recipe including how to get the materials locally and how to cook rice without a rice cooker.
Note: We normally use organic brown rice.
Facilitator: Sachiko Komagata. Her sushi using roasted red pepper was featured on the front page of Philadelphia Inquirer Food Section on March 21, 1993. She has taught sushi cooking to many of her friends and small groups. She is Program Director of Holistic Health Studies at Georgian Court University with a professional background in physical therapy.
